Future Flashing Yellow Arrows

Many traffic signals are being converted to the Flashing Yellow Arrow signal for left turns.
One is needed at the intersection of Harmon and Eastern. Traffic gets clogged here, and it would really help those going to the nearby Quick Care Facility.

Flashing Yellow arrows….where you yield to through traffic but turn left when there’s an opening, have been used around the country since 2009, and the Valley since 2011.
I reached out to Clark County to see if this light, would or could, get the flashing yellow arrow.
Although hundreds of intersections have received flashing yellows, with more still to be installed….it won’t happen here.
The reason: They are making changes at intersections that already allow permissive/protected turns. It makes it an easier transition.
It’ll be those intersections with existing 5-head signals with the green ball – that will become the new 4-head flashing yellow arrow signals.
So a good way to know if an intersection will receive a flashing yellow arrow is if it currently has the 5-head green ball.
Won’t happen at Harmon and Eastern – but hundreds of intersections did get one with more on the way….in the next phase of the project.
