Hacienda Access – Can’t Turn Left

It’s driving me crazy that I can’t get from Dean Martin to westbound Hacienda.
The sign says “Hacienda Access,” but when you get to the actual turn, you can only turn right.
And once you’re forced to turn right, there’s no opportunity to make a U-Turn.
Why can’t I turn left?
Monique

You’re correct, Monique. Left turns from Dean Martin Drive onto Hacienda Avenue, which would be made on a little loop street there called Aldebaran Avenue are restricted.
The reason is the proximity to the Hacienda overpass.
There’s a safety concern connected with vision, or lack thereof. The line of sight concern for westbound traffic coming over the Hacienda bridge is limited – therefore left turns are not allowed. And if you turn right….and want to U-Turn….there’s clear signage that U-Turns are not legal here.
So what do you do?
Depending on your destination….alternate routes from Dean Martin include taking Tropicana to Valley View; or taking Ali Baba Lane to Polaris or Valley View.
And now….further south: Sunset Road is open and accessible from Dean Martin.
Hope this helps!
Brian
