Paving the Cone Zone

It’s nice to drive up Boulder Highway near Sahara without having to navigate the barrels.
However, now that the construction is mostly complete, can they repave and reline the damaged road?

Quick refresher: This is the 9 million dollar long overdue, storm drain/flood control project that got delayed when a contractor pulled the plug.
The official title: Flamingo/Boulder Highway north Sahara Ave. to Flamingo Wash Project
This started in early 2011!
It was years overdue. But now, for the most part, it’s done. But all the work has left behind ruts and dips in the road.
County will finish punch list items, dotting i’s and crossing t’s, by the end of this month.
When they finish, Regional Tranportation Commission will step in to pave.
RTC is doing the paving and striping, because this area was part of their Boulder Hwy Bus Rapid Transit Project, that got started before County’s project.
County asked RTC to omit this section, since Clark County had to remove the pavement for their underground flood work.
Now that County is pretty much done, RTC will step back in to pave the dips and ruts…..
And then…..back to normal here!
