I’m a UNLV student, and the light at Wilbur and Tropicana where students turn into UNLV has a habit of not turning green. I once sat through six rounds of lights! Most students choose to run the red, just to make class on-time!
Jessica
I was actually able to get this traffic light taken care of months ago, so Jessica and other students enjoyed an easier drive through the Spring semester.
What happened here was the green “left turn only” arrows controlling Tropicana traffic, including at Wilbur, went through the process of being switched to flashing yellow arrows.
You’ve likely noticed hundreds of lights in the Valley now have a flashing yellow for left turns.
Prior to the installation, there was a bad stretch where the steady green arrows allowed fewer vehicles to turn left from Tropicana.
Commuters had unusual wait times. That’s the frustration that Jessica had her fill of.
The flashing yellow arrows now allow drivers to turn left when traffic in the opposite direction is clear.
The installation of the new system seems to have improved this commute issue at UNLV.
By the way, congrats to all the UNLV graduates!
