A “No U-Turn” Sign Badly Needed

At Las Vegas Blvd and Russell, close-call crashes occur when drivers make a legal U-Turn from northbound Las Vegas Blvd at Russell Road. There really needs to be a “No U-Turn sign” to end this conflict.

Our viewer continued that drivers on the Strip make the U-Turn at the same time drivers on eastbound Russell to southbound Las Vegas Blvd. have a protected green right arrow.
Seems like a recipe for close calls, and ultimately, inevitable accidents.
Apparently Clark County agrees. The requested sign is now up!
As we were able to see from Chopper 8 – the “No U-Turn” sign is now there, to eliminate, or at least reduce, that conflict.
A reminder: U-turns are allowed at an intersection, or on a divided highway, where there’s an opening.
Some areas where they’re not allowed: At the crest of a hill, on a curve, near alleys or driveways, or on undivided highways.
U-Turns are legal anywhere in Las Vegas, except when a sign prohibits one, and a “No U-Turn” sign now does just that at Russell & Las Vegas Blvd.
Lastly, credit to Ken Smith on this one – who brought it to County’s attention – even before our viewer e-mailed us.
The sign is now up, presenting a fix for this issue.
