Who is the wise guy who decided it would be best to close the three main arteries to thousands of homes north of the 215 Beltway, at the same time?
Why wasn’t this done prior to building these homes?
Terrance
The Beltway, a 53-mile stretch of roadway that circles three-quarters of the Las Vegas Valley, was completed back in 2003.
It was hard then to fully predict how fast our population would grow.
Clark County says the bigger 215 Beltway was needed to suit current, and future, traffic volumes.
I’m told three roads were closed at the same time to expedite construction….to lessen impact on the area.
Essentially – a shorter period of tough travel, rather than a longer, drawn-out timeline.
During the closure of Bradley – County tried to keep lanes open at Decatur and Jones – so mototists had an option, albeit….a slow one.
Bradley Bridge is now open, Decatur still being worked on, and Jones down to one lane for the next 6-8 weeks.
Some good news: the contractor is a little ahead of schedule.
The widening of 215 to four lanes, between Tenaya Way and Decatur, with the Bradley Bridge already up and over the Beltway, and interchanges at Jones and Decatur, should be complete by next summer – maybe even done as early as Spring, 2014.
